Tonight we are having a joint service with the other churches in Whalley as this is the week of prayer for Christian Unity. English Martyrs are hosting the service at 6.30pm. Refreshments will be served afterwards.

The Baptism of the Lord “After the Lord was baptised, the heavens were opened and the Spirit descended upon him like a dove and the voice of the Father thundered: This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” THE WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY begins on Friday 18th and runs through to the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul on Friday 25th The Sunday in this important octave is a day when all Christian people should come together for prayer and worship. It is our turn this year to host a Joint Service at 6.30pm for the churches of Whalley. Refreshments will be served afterwards. Please make a point of attending this service if you possibly can.

The feast of the Epiphany. Happy New year and I am sorry that the website has not been updated over Christmas period but your Webmaster escaped from the Whalley weather to the sun of the Canaries for a few weeks! Unfortunately the wifi was not good enough to safely update the blog whist I was away. As many of you will know Christmas is a much less commercial affair in many  Catholic countries, the Canaries being no exception so we had a very nice time away from endless loops of Christmas pop songs and the Coca Cola inspired red and white santa.  The focus of Christmas is wider and encompasses the Feast of the Epiphany in a much more positive way.
