Church Update!

. A LOT HAS HAPPENED this past week with our church. New carpet is expected to be fitted on Monday and Tuesday 7 & 8th March. A parishioner has very generously offered to pay for Domestic Cleaners to make the building spick and span for our return. This generous gift is appreciated by us all and we are working towards being back in English Martyrs for Palm Sunday. This will be confirmed nearer the time.

Lenten Deanery Mass

. It has not been possible this year to arrange Station Masses in Lent. A Deanery Mass has been arranged at St. Alban’s church Larkhill, on Tuesday 1st March at 7.30pm. Deanery priests will be available to hear confessions both before (7.00pm) and after Mass. Parking at St. Alban’s can be difficult. There is a purple notice in church for people a) to volunteer a car and b) for transportation. The individual driver will arrange with you a pick-up point and time.

The Church is drying well!

The concrete floor of our church is now dry enough for the next stages of the re-furbishment.  The carpet fitters are to start soon and then after a big clean up the Church will be ready for us to worship in again.  More News soon!

LENT begins on Wednesday 10th of Feb

. LENT BEGINS on WednesdayFeb 10th. Mass with Blessing and Imposition of Ashes is in St. Mary and All Saints at 10.00 am.  Other Masses during the week are in the Presbytery.

Bisop John to visit Sunday 7th of Feb in St Mary’s Church!

Bishop John promised to visit all of his Parishes as soon as possible and he keeps that promise next Sunday. Amazingly it will be the first time a Bishop has said Mass in St Mary’s since the Reformation.  Join us to give him a very warm welcome to Whalley in these strange times.
