A Statement from the Cardinal 26/7/16

. Together, as faith leaders, our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and with all those affected by the murderous assault that took place today at the church of Saint Etienne-du-Rouvray in France.  We are deeply saddened and shocked by the brutal murder of Fr. Jacques Hamel.  To commit murder at a place where people gather in peace to worship adds another layer of depravity to the violence we have witnessed over the past weeks. Diocese of Salford proposal for consultation

Have you had your copy of the proposals by Bishop John for the restructuring of out Diocese?  If not please collect a copy from the church!  In real terms Bishop John following Pope Frances’s lead is looking at the mission of the Catholic church in the Salford Diocese and suggesting ways that it can be strengthened and adapted to suite the 21st century.  Basically there has been amazing social change in this area of the UK over the last 50 years and the concentration of Catholic worshippers has changed in many geographical areas.  This means that some churches are in the wrong place and others have small congregations.  In order to meet Pope Frances’s vision of an evangelical church where we are heralds and ambassadors change is needed.  Bishop...
